KTU officials find college contention of copying false
Thrissur: The Kerala Technical University (KTU) officials conducted a direct investigation into the suicide of a student of Nehru Engineering College in Pampady, today by visiting the college and found the college management’s statement false. The controller of examination of KTU said they have received no complaints regarding the copying incident of Jishnu.
On being directed by the Education Minister, the university officials visited the college on Tuesday for collecting evidence and it was then they came to know the fact from exam controller Dr S Babu. The exam controller reached the college along with the University Registrar Dr G P Padmakumar.
As per rules, if students involve in copying or any kind of wicked act, the college authorities must inform the university about the incident the same day itself. But the university had not received any complaint of any student by the name Jishnu Pranoy to have indulged in copying.
The college authorities stated that it had warned Jishnu for resorting to copying. Jishnu Pranoy (18) committed suicide at the college hostel unable to bear the insult and his relatives allege he was beaten up in the Vice-Principal's room and the body bore beating marks.
