Thiruvananthapuram: As the gold smuggling case investigation is progressing, ministers EP Jayarajan and KT Jaleel are suffering from elevated heart rate, as mentioned by the Chief Minister, said Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.
It was the Chief Minister who requested the central agencies to investigate the case. And when the party secretary’s son and minister were interrogated, he is alleging that the Enforcement Directorate is politically motivated. The CM reiterated this when the investigation reached a minister’s son as well, said Chennithala.
“Until recently, the Chief Minister had stated that the investigation by the central agencies was progressing well. The CM also said that the heartbeat rate of certain people will increase once the investigation intensifies. Now, the heart rate of ministers EP Jayarajan and KT Jaleel has increased,” Chennithala said.
“Why did EP Jayarajan’s wife, who was under quarantine, go to the bank and inspect the locker? What was the emergency? EP Jayarajan should clarify about his son’s connection with Swapna Suresh and about what his wife had taken out of the bank locker,” Chennithala demanded.
The Opposition leader said that Pinarayi Vijayan gets irritated when these issues are raised and alleged that the public has started hating this government.
Ramesh Chennithala said that the quantity of dates imported through the diplomatic channel in the last three-and-a-half years was suspicious. He added that it would take officers at the UAE consulate more than 10 years to consume that much dates. What was brought in under the name of dates, must be clarified, said Chennithala.
None of this can be imported without the knowledge of the state protocol officer, the Congress leader said. The protocol officer is supposed to inspect all these as there is no embassy. The role of the protocol officer in the gold smuggling case also has to be inspected, Chennithala demanded.
