Thiruvananthapuram: Several KSU leaders engaged in a tussle on Sunday amid the state leadership meeting at Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Thiruvananthapuram. The dispute was reportedly over the exclusion of those who have crossed the prescribed age limit in the committee.
There are 10 members who are married and have crossed the age limit in the KSU state committee. A Congress (A) group leader from Alappuzha demanded why they were not excluded from the committee. To which, the state president responded that a decision in the regard was to be taken by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) leadership.
Following this, a dispute erupted after talks were held naming the leaders who have crossed the age limit. A leader from Thrissur got provoked and the verbal spat escalated to a scuffle.
However, KSU state president Aloshious Xavier denied the incident and termed the news baseless.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that the issue was created to target Xavier, who has close ties with opposition leader VD Satheesan. The leader from Thrissur is learnt to be a supporter of the KC Venugopal faction in the party.
