KSU ends hunger strike in front of secretariat


The hunger strike observed by KSU state president K. M. Abhijith, Jasheer Pallivel, Nabeel Kallambalam, Jobin .C. Joy and others was concluded on the eighth day.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Students Union (KSU) ended the indefinite hunger strike in front of the secretariat seeking investigation into the violence at university college here on Monday.

The hunger strike observed by KSU state president K. M. Abhijith, Jasheer Pallivel, Nabeel Kallambalam, Jobin .C. Joy and others was concluded on the eighth day.

The hunger strike protesters were shifted to hospital as protests by Youth Congress and KSU activists in support of the hunger strike turned violent. Police used grenade and tear gas to control the protesters which worsened the health condition of those observing the hunger strike. They were taken to the hospital following which the hunger strike was concluded.

Meanwhile, Dean Kuriakose MP said Youth Congress would take over the protest from KSU. He added that protests will be intensified across the state.
