Thamarassery: KSRTC Thamarassery depot set a record in the number of special tourist services in connection with International Women’s Day. The Budget Tourism Cell of KSRTC had organised special tourist packages under the title ‘Women’s Travel Week’ from March 8 to 13 in 24 depots of the state. Out of it, Thamarassery depot stood out by conducting special trips for 650 women in 17 buses to different destinations.
The depot carried out 10 services to Nelliyampathy, 4 to Wayanad, 2 to Munnar and a single service to Ernakulam (Wonderla, Lulu mall, Kochi metro). Meanwhile, a general budget service to Malakkapara and Munnar was also conducted during the same week. A revenue of Rs 7,37,800 was earned from the special services of the Women’s Travel Week.
Palakkad depot was placed second in the number of services. 524 women travellers availed the service of 14 trips from here. Chalakudy depot rolled out 10 tourist services with 491 passengers in the same period. A total of 4371 women participated in the whole services of the state.
