Thiruvananthapuram: New plans are in the offing to hand over depots of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to SWIFT Limited. As per reports, efforts are being taken to hand over the bus depots at East Fort, Vikas Bhavan, Peroorkkada and Pappanamcode in Thiruvananthapuram city. Reportedly, the functioning of SWIFT buses will be centred in these depots in future.

Meanwhile, employee unions including CITU have expressed opposition to the management’s decision. They are likely to inform their disagreement to the Transport Minister and the managing director during the talks scheduled to be held next week.

Apparently, the unions are also planning to launch a strike against such anti-employee moves. However, KSRTC management opined that there are no plans to hand over bus depots.

However, the KSRTC had earlier decided to sell land and commercial complexes to clear the loan liability of Rs 700 crore taken from the state-owned Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation (KTDFC).
