Thiruvananthapuram: Reeling under financial crisis, the much-awaited long-distance service of the state transport, KSRTC-Swift, will start service on Monday. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag off the first trip of the newly bought sleeper bus to Bengaluru.
KSRTC said the new services are getting a good response. As of Sunday noon, more than 60 per cent of the tickets for the Monday trips are sold. The company is offering discounts and even free return tickets as an introductory offer.
Special codes are given for Swift buses. As many as 325 temporary staff are appointed to run the services. They have a new uniform - a peach colour shirt, black pants and a cap.
