Thiruvananthapuram: The distribution of salary in KSRTC for the month of December is likely to be delayed. As per the accord between KSRTC management, government and employee unions, the monthly salary need to be settled within 5th of every month. However, management claims that it will be devoid of lumpsum amount from its monthly revenue once the operational expenses including diesel cost are met.

The salary payment will require Rs 80 crore. The management sought Rs 50 crore as financial assistance from government on December 16. However, government has not yet taken any decision on the matter. As a result, it is highly unlikely that KSRTC will pay salaries by January 5.

Interestingly, the revenue of KSRTC in December was at Rs 225 crore. According to Congress affiliated union TDF, management is intentionally trying to delay the salary payment. Some unions are planning for agitation against alleged intentional delay.
