KSRTC's first LNG bus begins service
Thiruvananthapuram: Transport minister Antony Raju said that if the liquefied natural gas (LNG) buses introduced this year prove to be successful, KSRTC will be launching 400 more buses next year.
The LNG bus will conduct service on a trial basis for three months. If this proves to be successful, KSRTC buses will gradually switch to LNG and CNG (compressed natural gas). The minister said this while inaugurating the first LNG AC bus service that uses green fuel in the state.
The Petronet company has been asked to examine the facility to fuel refilling at Aluva, Ettumanoor, Pappanamkode and Vellarada, Antony Raju said.
The minister further said that they are not considering bus fare hike to overcome the financial crisis due to fuel price hike. After 10 years, discussions on salary revision in KSRTC also was initiated.
Trade unions like CITU, TDF, BMS and others requested the minister to implement salary revision immediately. Management level discussions on the same will start from Tuesday onwards.
