Pathanamthitta: KSRTC budget tour packages have become a popular choice for travellers heading to famous destination spots in the state, including Gavi in Pathanamthitta. Since the inception of the tour package to Gavi in December, KSRTC earned a revenue of Rs 20 lakh and conducted over 100 services.

Further, KSRTC is conducting services from all three zones in Kerala, with three services per day. The package includes visiting KSEB dams, Moozhiyar, Kakki-Anathode and Kochu Pamba Weir. Further, boating services are also arranged for passengers in Kochu Pamba Weir. The bus will return after visiting Gavi to Pathanamthitta by night.

Though KSRTC faced backlash recently over a bus break down on way to its destination, the management was quick in terms of responding to the situation. KSRTC management has taken measures to introduce three new buses in the area.

Further, the staff also requested minister Veena George to use MLA funds to buy new KSRTC buses on the route.

At the same time, KSRTC officials alleged that private bus lobbies on the route, charging passengers hefty fees, are behind the recent controversies. Normally, private bus owners charge around Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 for travel to Gavi. Compared to this, KSRTC only charges Rs 1300 for the ticket and also provides food, boating services and others.
