Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC management is gearing up to increase the work hour of employees to 12 hours. It is learned that this will be discussed with various employee unions. According to the board, an increase in work hours is the only viable option to manage the current financial crisis in KSRTC.
In a letter sent to unions, KSEB conveyed their intent on increasing work hours from 8 to 12 hours to cope with the increasing financial burden.
Meantime, BMS and other trade unions opposed the move. Minister Antony Raju said that government could not provide financial assistance for a long period to KSRTC. He pointed out that it is up to the corporation to find the revenue to pay the salaries.
"The salary for the month has been transferred to KSRTC by the government. Therefore, the situation that led to the strike is no more. The government will intervene in the case after holding discussions," he added.
