Kollam: Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will distribute the salary for employees for November month on Monday.
The Corporation received Rs 50 cr from the government for this purpose. Earlier, the finance department had allowed Rs 30 cr. Transport minister Antony Raju met finance minister KN Balagopal and informed him that it would not be sufficient.
KSRTC managed to collect Rs 206 cr in November of which Rs 100 cr was spent on diesel. Rs 4.68 cr was earmarked for allowance pending from February. Around Rs 1.5 cr is required daily for bank repayments. Insurance and accident compensation were also paid from last month’s income.
Government had earlier denied the request for assistance to repair the buses damaged during Covid-19 lockdown. Hence the corporation is now using its income to repair buses. As many as 150 buses are getting ready for fitness tests soon. More than 1,300 buses are not in good condition now. Of them, 748 can be rolled back if they are repaired. Daily wagers will be hired to run these buses.
