KSRTC launches new firm SWIFT amid protests
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched SWIFT, the new firm, amid protests of employees. Minister AK Saseendran inaugurated the head office of SWIFT and superclass bus terminal at Anayara here on Friday.
Police arrested KST Employees Sangh activists who staged a protest at the venue of the inaugural ceremony. Addressing the event the transport minister stated that the renovations aim to protect KSRTC.
“We can not borrow more loans at the present circumstances. In this background, we decided to form SWIFT,” said AK Saseendran.
Minister Kadakampally Surendran launched the logo of SWIFT.
Bus services to Ernakulam and Kottayam will be operated from the new superclass bus terminal every hour. 96 services through National Highway and 40 services through MC road will be operated.
200 employees are needed to operate the services. A restroom will be arranged for the staff at Kozhikode.
KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar, NATPAC director Dr Samson Mathew and SWIFT general manager KV Rajendran addressed the event.
