Alappuzha: KSRTC has issued guidelines to implement driver-cum-conductor (crew-change) system. In the order issued on Saturday, KSRTC has mandated that the working hours of staff deployed under the system should be fixed at 8 hours.

Employees must get enough time for rest while deploying them for another duty followed by a service.

If the driver takes service for continuous 5 hours, he must be allowed to take rest for 30 minutes.

The crew-change system should not be avoided in the long-distance night services. Special stay allowance of Rs 100 should be given to the staff deployed for this service.

As per the court order, KSRTC authority must receive a consent letter from employees and then deploy them in driver-cum-conductor system.

Unit officers are directed to make necessary arrangements if any service gets cancelled or delayed due to the shortage of staff.

The order issued by KSRTC MD also informed that strict action will be taken against the employees who come late or go absent for any reasons except accident, death of a close relative and hospital emergency.

KSRTC has decided to implement the crew-change system effectively following the death of an employee in a road accident at Vyttila.
