Mannanchery (Alappuzha): A KSRTC woman conductor received award for obtaining maximum collection on a single day. Mannanchery native Sumangali, who is adept at making passengers board the bus and issuing tickets promptly even during peak hours, received the award from the managing director of KSRTC Biju Prabhakar.
Sumangali has been serving as conductor for the past 13 years. When KSRTC management planned to honour the employees who gained record collection in a day following Onam this year, Sumangali and driver Rajesh decided to give it a go.
Sumangali and Rajesh could obtain Rs 18,000 from two trips on Alappuzha- Vaikkom route and a single trip on Alappuzha- Mankombu route. By this, Sumangali became the first woman conductor who collected such a record collection with just three trips on a day.
Sumangali’s husband S Harikumar is the joint block development officer in Vadakara. Their children are Keerthana and Lakshmi.
