KSRTC employees drop protest plan
Thiruvananthapuram: The KSRTC staff have dropped their plan to launch strike from Tuesday midnight.
A decision in this regard was taken after the talks involving Transport Minister A K Saseendran and employees associations.
In the meeting, the minister assured the staff that their salary and pension would be disbursed within a week. He also assured to pay dearness allowance (DA).
As the government withdrew the decision to disburse DA, the unions, except CITU, had announced the strike.
Earlier, it was decided to add the pay arrear along with the salary for the month of December. However, the KSRTC deferred the decision, which in turn irked the staff and triggered protest.
Once the staff announced the strike, the transport minister made attempts to pacify them by affirming that neither their salary nor the DA would be slashed.
Stating that the protest does not augur well for the corporation, he had requested the staff to drop the plan.
