Thrissur: The lives of nearly 50 people were saved due to the timely decision made by Sigeesh, a KSRTC driver. Sigeesh experienced weakness on one side of his body as he suffered paralysis while driving the bus carrying 48 passengers. He was unable to even change the gear, but he managed to park the bus by the roadside before he collapsed on the seat.

The passengers and the conductor in the bus immediately took Sigeesh to Kunnamkulam Taluk hospital and later to the Thrissur medical college. He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU after surgery.

The KSRTC bus was operating service from the Thamarassery depot to Malakkappara with tourists under the budget tourism project.

The bus began its journey at around 4 am on Sunday and driver Sigeesh, a resident of Thamassery, felt uneasiness when they reached Kunnamkulam. The bus carrying the tourists were later taken to Chalakudi with the help of another driver from Kunnamkulam. The tourists were taken to Malakkappara on another bus.

Earlier on Friday, a bus that Sigeesh was driving was involved in a landslide in Munnar. The passengers had a narrow escape as Sigeesh took them to a safe spot..
