Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC has dismissed the temporary staff who drove its brand new 'Swift' buses that met with accidents.

The KSRTC-Swift is a new company of the state-run corporation to operate long route services. Two of its buses met with an accident in their inaugural journey itself.

The internal committee found that the drivers were faulted in their work. The accidents happened at 11 pm on April 11 at Kallambalam in Thiruvananthapuram and at 10.25 am on April 12 at Kottakkal in Malappuram district.

KSRTC has spent several crores on the new buses. Accidents cause huge losses to the corporation.

Earlier, KSRTC MD had written to police seeking a detailed probe of the accidents. He suspected foul play to end the services to help private players in the field.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan flagged off the much anticipated vertical company of KSRTC on April 11. The company was materialised overcoming stiff opposition from the employee unions.
