Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is proceeding with the move to set up Beverages Corporation outlets in the property of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The liquor outlets will operate in the vacant buildings of KSRTC and not inside the depots.

It has been decided in a meeting under CMD Biju Prabhakar with the union leaders to give away such 16 locations. Earlier, several protests were conducted against opening liquor outlets at KSRTC depot and complexes. The CMD informed that such measures are planned considering the financial crisis faced by the KSRTC.

Bevco officers will examine the selected sites and give permission to open outlets at suitable locations. However, the Excise Department denied its involvement in the project while KSRTC is proceeding with the procedures to open liquor outlets.
