KSRTC accident killing 2 Kollam students: Driver suspended; Action against 5 other staffers

Kollam: Action was taken against seven KSRTC staffers in connection with the grave negligence, violations and misconduct from their side.

Driver R Binu was suspended over a bus accident that killed two college students in Chadayamangalam here on February 28. The action comes in the wake of a report that negligence during overtaking resulted in the accident.

The conductor of Moolamattom unit Biju Augustine, who reportedly attended a behavioural training session for staffers, under the influence of alcohol has been suspended.

Five others suspended pending inquiry are:

  • Parassala depot blacksmith IR Shanu, who allegedly attempted to steal bus scrap
  • Neyyattinkara depot general inspector who allegedly misappropriated charity cause fund
  • Conductor PG Pradeep, who reportedly refused to give a receipt on luggage charges levied from a passenger at Kozhikode depot
  • Ernakulam depot vehicle supervisor AS Bijukumar who involved in duty allegedly under influence of alcohol
