Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to levy fines on section officers who fail to remove hazardous tree limbs over electric lines starting from June 1. People can click photos of unsafe tree limbs over electric lines, posts and transformers and send them to the authorities through a WhatsApp number.

KSEB removes trees and branches that are a threat to electric lines annually before the onset of the rainy season. This costs about Rs 65 crores every year. In a review held on April 22, it was understood that only 79 per cent of this work has been completed. KSEB has directed these works to be wrapped up by May 31.

From June 1 onwards, the amount spent by KSEB in removing these tree branches will be taken from the officers as well.

The public is requested to send the photos to the following number through WhatsApp: 9496001912.

The photos will be sent to KSEB’s official Facebook page. KSEB will also give rewards for the best ten pictures.
