Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electricity Board has decided to introduce 'Work from Home' culture to their employees. In the first phase, the scheme will be partially introduced among staff of KSEB headquarters- Vaidyuthi Bhavan.
According to KSEB, the employees will be permitted to work four days a month while sitting at home. 16 days(4 months) will be available a year in this manner.
The board released the draft recommendations for implementing the work culture in KSEB. Dr B Ashok, Chairman and Managing Director of the Board, said that they are planning to implement WFH from April onwards after holding talks with each department. We are planning to implement the scheme in regional offices based on its success, he added.
In the first phase, priority will be given to employees with disabilities, mothers of children who have not started school, single parents and those with serious illness.
The employees opting for WFH should mandatorily work at least six hours through the phone and laptop. Additionally, the senior officers would be able to reach WFH employees on phone from 10 am to 6 pm. It is also necessary for employees to attend video conferencing decently dressed on a private setting.
Vaidyuthi Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram has 300 officers and 900 employees. Laptops are provided to those who handle files at home and in the office.
Meanwhile, work from home is not allowed for those doing technical work outside office. The board is also concerned that providing facilities for office workers only would be discriminatory.
