Students procuring last drops of water available at the school
Malappuram: Parent–teacher association (PTA) of Govt UP School in Mundothparamba has raised allegations against UDF-led Parappur panchayat as KSEB unplugged the fuse citing non-payment of dues of around Rs 17,000.
KSEB took away the fuse on Wednesday morning leaving students without facilities like light and water. According to PTA, rivalry of panchayat administration resulted in this episode.
Since years, PTA and panchayat administration has been in rift over the shifting of anganwadi operating in the school building, said sources. Months ago panchayat had organised grama sabha in the room in which Anganwadi has been operating. This was done without any intimation to school authorities and police intervention was required for reconciliation between two camps.
Similarly, school authorities maintained that panchayat has not been giving fund for paying the electricity bill.
Meanwhile, as KSEB’s act affected students, the matter was intimated to education minister and electricity minister. The electricity was reinstated by afternoon as panchayat apparently did a damage control by settling the dues. Kerala State – Commission for Protection of Child Rights registered a suo moto case over the matter.
