Kannur: Kerala State Electricity Board always receives complaints from customers over the rejection of phone calls with a busy signal whenever they contact the section offices. Most of the time, this happens when the offices receive multiple phone calls at the same time, especially when it rains. To address this, KSEB has launched a system to receive messages on the 2,663 phones of the board.

If called to the section offices of KSEB, the customers will hear the ringback tone stating to ‘call on 1912’. By this, the board aims to make the toll free number ‘1912’ more popular.

If the customer calls 1912, the complaint will be immediately forwarded to the respective section offices. This service is installed in 2,663 mobile phones, including the phones of the 1865 officials in the 776 section offices of the distribution department. KSEB has to pay Rs 7.15 lakh annually to BSNL as per the tariff rate for the service.

Toll-free customer care number

1912 is the toll-free customer care number of the electricity department. Once called, the complaint will be registered in Thiruvananthapuram. When the call connects, the customer has to dial ‘1’ after confirming a language. Later, by dialling the 13 digit consumer number, the customer can register the complaint.
