KSEB land lease was illegal; Revenue minister refutes electricity minister’s claim
Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan said leasing of KSEB owned land near Ponmudi dam to the Rajakkad cooperative bank was against law. The land leased to the bank having Electricity Minister M M Mani’s son-in-law as president was government owned poramboke land, Revenue Minister informed the Assembly and said that apt action will be taken on the basis of a report from Collector.
21 acres of land on the premises of the dam was leased to the Rajakkad Service Cooperative bank. Revenue Minister has now informed the Assembly in writing that this was against law. District Collectors report said that the land comes under poramboke. Based on the report, Revenue Minister said instruction has been given for proper action.
However, M M Mani had earlier said that the land was not given on lease. He had also claimed Revenue Minister does not have the right to order an inquiry into the handing over of land belonging to Kerala State Electricity Board.
However, it remains to be seen what action will be taken after the new developments in the matter.
