Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has reportedly included the controversial National Population Register (NPR) among its official identification documents. This action has been taken even after the state has been reiterating that NPR will not be implemented in Kerala.
In its official website, KSEB explains about the guidelines that will have to be followed by domestic and non-domestic consumers, while applying for electricity connections. It also mentions about the identification documents that will have to be submitted. In this, NPR is also mentioned along with the identification documents in the first step.
NPR has been included along with Aadhaar card, drivers license and other identification documents. Meanwhile, KSEB has explained that the identification documents were determined as per the 2014 regulatory commission’s supply code. As per the regulatory commission, NPR is also an identification document. That is why it has also been included in the official documents list.
This is at a time when the state government has been saying that NPR will not be renewed and that it will not be implemented in Kerala.
