Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 76 assistant executive engineers were demoted to the rank of assistant engineers in the Kerala State Electricity Board. The disciplinary action has been taken on account of their reluctance to submit their performance appraisal report and vigilance clearance certificate, despite the frequent notices issued by the board.
361 assistant engineers in KSEB were temporarily promoted to assistant executive engineers during the period from July 2018 to August 2020.
Among them, 180 officials are graduates and the remaining are diploma holders. KSEB demanded documents from these engineers to make their promotions permanent.
The board had urged the assistant executive engineers to submit the appraisal certificates that analyse their performances from 2019 to 2021 along with the vigilance clearance certificates which prove as no cases exist against them. The engineers need two ’Very Good’ and a ‘Good’ remarks in the appraisal report for the promotion. The board issued notices to submit the reports several times. Though the last chance was given until March 1, the board even accepted the reports submitted till March 6.
The demoted officers maintained that technical glitches hindered them from submitting the certificates. They have decided to approach the court against disciplinary action.
