Kannur: KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that the open revolt in the party between Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala over the DCC presidents' appointment could be due to fear over the shift in the centre of power. We will discuss with Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala to reach a consensus. He was speaking to Mathrubhumi News here on Friday.
On the 'diary controversy', Sudhakaran said he had to raise his diary in the press meet when his credibility as the KPCC President was questioned. "I do not have any intention to avoid anyone. They denied that discussions happened. That is where the fight started. I had to raise my diary when my honesty was questioned," he said
“I did not expect such opposition while attempting to cleanse the party. I thought everyone would co-operate. Those who express severe dissatisfaction over the changes cannot be blamed either. They must be feeling insecure about the loss of power which they wielded for a long time in the party," Sudhakaran said.
Replying to Chennithala's comments, Sudhakaran said he must be respected as he is elder to Chennithala. "Ramesh Chennithala is younger than me and there are no arguments against that. I hope I will be given the respect that I deserve as I am elder to him. There should be changes brought forth in the jumbo committees. This will be made clear to the leaders. They know everything."
Discipline is important, Sudhakaran said. "I have faced a lot of criticism in my life and have never reacted to any of those. Is cursing others and being disrespectful a privilege? Such things won’t be tolerated. Discipline must be ensured as we move forward. As long as I am the KPCC president, there will be discipline. Or else I won’t serve in this post."
"V D Satheesan and I are being targeted. This sort of approach won’t last. There are party workers on the other side and their trust and excitement will give us strength."
