Thiruvananthapuram: The general body meeting of KPCC to elect the new president and other members will convene on Thursday. However, it is learnt that the incumbent president K Sudhakaran will continue and the names of other members have been decided.
Earlier, the party unanimously decided to let Sudhakaran continue in the role of KPCC state president. Meanwhile, a resolution will be passed on Thursday before the high command officially releases the final list. The names of party office-bearers in the state have already been finalised and not many changes or opposition is expected during the meeting.
77 new faces are included in the 310-member list approved by the high command. Meanwhile, efforts are taken to include KPCC office-bearers, selected by Sudhakaran after he came to the party leadership, in the party's general body.
However, the party constitution says that office-bearers should be elected from among the members.
Therefore, KPCC is yet to release the list of members selected by the leadership. Earlier, group disputes led to stalling of the election of DCC office-bearers and block presidents.
