KP Anilkumar quits Congress, harshly criticises Congress leadership
Thiruvananthapuram: K P Anilkumar, who faced disciplinary action for openly criticising the party leadership in the selection of the DCC presidents in the state, has quit Congress. Anil Kumar stated that the new Congress leadership is keeping him aside from the functioning of the party, even after he came forward with an explanation. He said the new regime is authoritarian and he would not get justice from the party.
“I have never criticised the party or used media to address my opinions and have always stood by the party on several issues. When I was not given a seat in Koyilandy during the 2016 election, I never complained or made any remark,” he added. A lot have changed since the new leadership take control of the party.
He also pointed out that he stands with no factions within the party despite knowing factionalism still exists. “I was denied a seat in 2016 and in 2021 elections, and there was clear intention in isolating me from the party,” he added.
Anilkumar, a former president of the Youth Congress, was the general secretary in charge of the organisation of the Congress. However, he was suspended for making public statements against the party leadership in connection with the DCC presidential election.
