Student manhandled by seniors at college suffers ear injury


Kozhikode: A BCom student suffered severe ear injury after being thrashed by seniors on the college campus. It is reported that the eardrum got ruptured during the ragging incident at the college. The youth is Nihal Hameed, a first-year B.Com student at Nadapuram MET College.

Nihal was manhandled by his seniors at the college on October 26. In the complaint, Nihal alleged that he was attacked by seniors in the presence of a security guard. A quarrel erupted between the seniors and the youth over buttoning up his shirt. Following this, the senior students brutally manhandled Nihal.

Apart from the ear injury, Nihal also suffered injuries in other parts of his body. As per the complaint, a gang of eight attacked Nihal. Two other students were also manhandled along with Nihal.

MET college principal informed that the eight students were dismissed from the college. The college authority also forwarded the complaint to the police seeking action against them.

According to doctors, Nihal would need surgery for his ruptured eardrum.

Many complaints are being raised against MET college over raging incidents. It is alleged that the senior students who are dismissed from the college over ragging issues used to return to the campus after a few days.
