Kozhikode: Shahrukh Saifi, the suspect who set fire to his co-passengers in the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express, is reportedly not cooperating with the interrogation team citing health issues.
As per reports, Saifi, who was interrogated by top officials of the Maloor Kunnu AR camp, including IG Neeraj Kumar Gupta and commissioner Rajpal Meena on Saturday, cited headache and liver ailments to avoid being quizzed by the officials.
According to sources, the suspect also told the officials that he wanted to urinate every now and then, following which he was taken to the toilet accompanied by police.
So far, Shahrukh Saifi has been charged with provisions of murder as three persons, including a toddler, were killed in the arson attack. The charges are IPC 302 (murder), IPC 307 (Attempt to murder), IPC 326 A, IPC 436 and Indian Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act section 151.
Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) handed over the CCTV footage of all the trains that passed through Shoranur railway station, on the day of the arson attack, to the special investigation team.
