Kozhikode train fire: NIA team visits Kannur, inspects compartments

Kannur: A team of National Investigation Agency visited Kannur to probe the recent arson attack on Alappuzha- Kannur Executive Express in Kozhikode. Three officials from the NIA offices in Kochi and Bengaluru inspected two compartments of the train in which the fire spread.

The forensic wing of the NIA had also visited Kannur and examined the D1 and D2 compartments the other day. The inspections were carried out with the cooperation of the railway police.

NIA has inspected the train primarily to find if the attack has any terrorist link. The officials confirmed that only inspections at a preliminary level have been carried out and the investigation will be taken up only as per the directions of the home ministry.
