Kozhikode: In a new move, the Kerala Maritime Board has decided to convert the port marine bungalow under the port department in Kozhikode into a star hotel. As per the board’s decision, the illegal occupants of Kerala Maritime Board beach land shall be evicted within two weeks in accordance with the law, said board chairman NS Pillai.

According to the maritime board, the plan is aimed at gaining profits for the government by converting the bungalow into a star hotel by setting up links with popular five star hotel networks.

Reportedly, there had been three well-known bungalows in Kozhikode since the time of British rule. They were the bungalows of the collector, judge and the port officer. Soon after the port officer’s bungalow was converted into a guest house, it went into huge loss. Currently, the port officer is staying at a rented house.
