Kozhikode: A class nine student was killed inside a school here after a school bus hit him. The deceased is Kodiyathur PTM Higher Secondary school student Basish.
The accident is believed to have happened when the bus was moved from the parking spot, to send the children back to home. The school was organising cultural competition (school 'kalolsavam') on Monday.
Around 4.30 in the evening, the driver reversed the bus. The child was found injured when the vehicle was moved, said the head teacher. He added that this is mere assumption and the facts can be proven only after the probe.
Basish was rushed to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. But he succumbed to the injuries. He was injured on the head.
Normally students board the bus only after the vehicles are lined up. On Monday, the school was dismissed late as it was festival. We take utmost care to avoid any untoward incident, the HM said.
