A video grab of the protest

Kozhikode: Students of Kozhikode Medical College protested before the ladies hostel on Wednesday against the night curfew imposed. The hostel inmates gathered on the road against the directive to enter the hostel by 10 pm.

Citing ‘security reasons’, authorities said students would not be allowed to enter the hostel past 10 in the night. The hostel premises doesn't have street lights or CCTV, according to students.

They said even though the hostels for boys and girls shall close by 9.30 pm, practically there is no curb for boys. Students resorted to protest as their previous pleas fell on deaf ears, they allege.

Following an assured discussion with the principal on Thursday, the protest ended.
