Kozhikode: A hospital staff, suspended for allegedly threatening a patient who faced sexual assault in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kozhikode Medical College, moved an anticipatory bail in a Kozhikode court on Thursday.
The anticipatory bail was moved by Asya, a grade one attender and one of the five hospital staff suspended following the incident last month.
The incident pertaining to the case happened on March 18. Saseendran, 55, a grade one attender, allegedly sexually assaulted a female patient inside the ICU of the hospital. The woman was recovering following Thyroid surgery. Following these events, the women attenders of the hospital reportedly tried to persuade and threaten her to withdraw her complaint.
Over the matter attenders Asya, Shiny Hose, PE Shima and Shalooja, and nursing assistant Praseetha Manoli were suspended. While a temporary worker Deepa too was dismissed from service. All six are absconding.
The anticipatory bail plea was moved by Asya through a lawyer at the Additional district court. Following this, the court directed the police not to arrest her until the pronouncing verdict on her bail plea.
Medical College Police said that a search is ongoing to find the accused.
