Koorachunde: Koorachunde native Faisal’s family is living in fear as the situation in Ukraine is turning more and more grave each day. Faisal’s daughter Amal Binth, a first-year MBBS student at Kharkiv National Medical University in Ukraine informed the family about the horrific incidents.Amal and her relative Diya Mirsha, a native of Nanmanda went to Ukraine only a month back. The two are now trapped in the war-ridden country.

The family is in a state of despair after hearing that Russian forces began shelling in Kharkiv. The death of the medical student and Karnataka native Naveen have also made them more anxious. Their only relief is that they are keeping in touch with Amal through the phone. She is updating them all details from the bunkers where she is staying with some 300 other students. She said that they are planning to travel to the border of Ukraine and the journey would be highly dangerous.

Amal told her mother Haseena on Thursday that they have run out of water and food items and they are exhausted after being forced to walk for kilometres, because of the climate and fear of war.

Amal’s worried parents are living with the hope that they will be able to see their daughter soon.
