Kozhikode: Bodies of children who drowned in sea recovered

Kozhikode: The bodies of Olavanna natives K P Muhammed Adil (18 years) and T K Adil Hassan, who drowned in Kozhikode beach on Sunday morning, were finally recovered. The duo were taking a bath in the sea along with friends, after playing football on the shores.

The bodies were recovered after hours of search operation. Muhammed Adil’s body was recovered first around 11.25 PM on Sunday night, at Vellayil Pulimoodu. Adil Hassan’s body was found later on Monday early morning. The dead bodies were shifted to Kozhikode Medical College.

The group of five friends were taking a bath in the sea after playing football, when Adil Hassan got washed away in the strong tide. Muhammed Adil lost his life while trying to save his friend.

The fishermen actively participated in the search operations. Marine ambulances of the fisheries department, boats of the coast guard and coastal police were also actively involved. The beach fireforce had also arrived at the spot upon being alerted.

District Collector A Geetha, DCP K E Baiju, and Coast Guard Beypore Deputy Commander A Sujeth visited the spot.

The number of incidents of drowning have been increasing alarmingly at Kozhikode beach in the recent past.
