Kozhikode: The Kerala State Audit Department (KSAD) in an audit report on Wednesday said that the Kozhikode Corporation is repeating lapses which were pointed out earlier.
“Although the (Kozhikode) corporation was informed of the matters in which it can take decisions on its own, there have been lapses. Action must be taken to inform the corporation secretaries via the urban affairs director about such matters,” stated the audit report.
Reportedly, an audit conducted at the Corporation had unearthed 13 ‘new’ active bank accounts in the name of the corporation apart from the 60 accounts recorded in the annual report.

Out of the 13 accounts, seven accounts belong to Kudumbashree while three accounts are part of the Sustainable Urban Development Project.
The audit department has also directed the corporation to close the accounts, which have less transactions and reduce the numbers as much as possible. An earlier report had found lapses in tax collection too.
In addition, the corporation has also been asked to conduct monthly auditing in order to avoid frauds and record daily income and expenses on the bank books.
The audit was launched in the backdrop of the Punjab National Bank scam in which the bank lost its deposits in various PNB accounts.
