Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Municipal Corporation on Tuesday issued a notice directing to shut down hotel De Casa Inn in Eranhipalam, where hotelier Siddique was brutally killed earlier this month. The order was issued after it was found that the hotel does not possess a licence and lacks the approval of the state pollution control board.
Local residents had lodged a complaint against the hotel over a pollution issue a year back. An inspection carried out by the health department had then found that the hotel lacked licence. Following which, the department instructed to close down the hotel. It was shut down for six months but resumed functioning later. Complaints were also rife about drug use in the inn.
Tirur native Siddique (58) was killed inside a room in De Casa Inn in the third week of May. His body was chopped into pieces, stuffed inside two trolley bags and dumped in the ninth hairpin curve near Attappady ghat road. The police have arrested three people, Farhana, Shibili and Ashik, in connection with the murder.
