Kozhikode Collector orders closure of Perambra fish market after clash; imposes Section 144
Kozhikode: District collector Sambasiva Rao ordered the closing down of Perambra fish market until further notice after a clash broke out here. The gathering of four or more people has been banned in the market and in wards 5 and 15 in the panchayats as per CRPC Section 144.
Rural police chief has been instructed to hand over the list of all the people who were involved in the clash. All those who were present in the area have been told to enter room quarantine. Strict observation will be made by the police in this regard.
All those who were involved in the clash will be tested for COVID-19. The District Medical Officer has been instructed to test all those who are exhibiting symptoms of the disease. The Collector’s order also specified that no form of protest will be allowed in any part of the district.
A clash erupted between the fish traders in Perambra fish market on Thursday. A group of employees joined CITU from STU, which is the trade union under Muslim League. The clash erupted when a group of CITU members reached the market and demanded the opportunity to sell fish in the market which was blocked by STU members.
