Kozhikode beach witnesses huge crowd on first day after reopening
Kozhikode: The huge rush at the Kozhikode beach on Sunday proved that the people were impatiently waiting to reopen it. The beach was more crowded than any of the festive seasons and the visitors paid no heed to the Covid protocols. Many were spotted without wearing masks. Though the pandemic is still not contained in the district, many families reached the beach carrying little children.
Two children went missing for a while at south beach. A five-year-old boy who got separated from parents in the huge crowd was found by the Pink Police yesterday. A man noticed another 12-year-old boy who was searching for his parents and he handed over the child to the police aid post near the corporation office.
After closing for many months due to the second wave of Covid, the beach was reopened on Sunday. People started flocking the beach after 2 pm. Even though the collector had advised to control the crowd, the police could not do anything. Due to the rush of people to the beach, all the roads from Francis road to Gandhi Road experienced heavy traffic.
