Peravoor: The results of DNA test performed in connection with the case related to the rape of a minor girl by a priest have been out. The test results revealed that the key accused Robin Vadakkumchery and the minor girl are the child’s biological parents.
The report in this regard has been sent from the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram to Thalassery District Additional Sessions court and Peravoor police.
This has become a crucial evidence in the case.
Earlier, it was alleged that the police are making moves to save the priest.
Against this background, the blood samples of Robin, the girl and the newborn were collected and sent for DNA test with the permission of court.
On being directed by the priest, the child was shifted to an orphanage in Vythiri. After the incident came to light, police shifted the child to a government-run orphanage at Paduvam in Kannur.
The investigation headed by Peravoor Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar is progressing. The police have arrested all the accused and are preparing to submit charge sheet at the earliest. The investigators have also collected detailed evidence of the role played by the accused.
