Kasaragod: In a major update, Arun Vidyadharan, who was booked on the charge of abetment to suicide over the death of a young woman in Kottayam, was found hanging inside a lodge room in Kanhangad here on Thursday.
The lodge administration intimated the matter to the police on seeing the body of a man. Kanhangad police had some doubts and with the inputs from Kottayam police, it was confirmed that the deceased is Arun. Meanwhile, according to reports, the person had given a Malappuram-based address at the lodge.
The deceased is accused of carrying out cyber attacks against her friend and Kaduthuruthy native Athira, who had killed herself earlier this week. He is booked under sections 306 and 119 (b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The person was on the run and police had intensified the search for him.
The police on the other day said that the accused had fled Kerala and was last traced in Coimbatore. A lookout notice was also issued against him. The development comes at this juncture.
Athira, a young woman from Kothanalloor, died by suicide at her home on Monday. She was found dead a day after she filed a complaint against her friend, Arun, accusing him of abusing her on Facebook. According to her family members, Athira was in a relationship with him and they parted ways on mutual consent. Later the man used to threaten her over the phone by telling her that he would upload her photographs on social media, the relatives claimed.
