Kottayam man assaults cop during house visit for probe on domestic violence complaint

Kottayam: A policeman was assaulted while on duty for investigating a domestic violence complaint in Pampady on Sunday night.

Jithin, a senior civil police officer of Pampady Police Station, was assaulted by the Nedumkuzhi native Sam.

According to police, they received a call from Sam's wife on Sunday night informing them that her husband had been assaulting her and their daughter. Following this, Jithin and another police officer attended Sam's house. However, Sam, who was in an inebriated condition, attacked Jithin and fled from the area. Later, Jithin was admitted to Kottayam Medical College with injuries.

A search is ongoing to find Sam. A case would be registered against him, informed the police.
