Kottayam nurse suffers hand fracture after patient attacks her

Kottayam: A nurse suffered a fracture on her hand after she was attacked by a patient at the Medical College Hospital in Kottayam. The victim has been identified as Nekha Arun (29), a native of Kunnonny, Kottayam. The culprit reportedly hails from Idukki.

The incident took place around 5 am on Tuesday at a ward in the neurosurgery department of the hospital. The nurse lodged a complaint with the hospital authorities and the police in connection with the incident.

As per reports, the patient attacked Nekha while she was trying to give him medicines. He threw away the medicine tray and twisted her right hand while his relatives tried to stop him.

Soon after, Nekha was given first aid and sent home. However, as the pain escalated by noon, she sought further treatment and the fracture was detected. She has to undergo a surgery as well.
