Kottayam: Two youngsters who went missing during Kodaikanal excursion have been found inside Poondi forest. The duo are identified as Erattupetta natives Althaf (24) and Hafis (23). A team of police headed by Erattupetta SI VV Vishnu traced the youths from the forest.

Both Althaf and Hafis were part of the five-member group who went for an excursion on New Year's eve. They had booked accommodation at a homestay in Poondi. The duo were in the same room. They went missing during the trekking. Later, the authorities concerned started searching for them as per the complaint lodged by their families. Both Kodaikanal and Kerala police were involved in the search.

Police traced the duo by 04:00 am at Kathrikava region of the forest, an area with the presence of wild animals including elephants. They were first spotted by two labourers who went inside the forest for chopping wood.
