Kiran, Aiswarya
Ettumanoor: Police arrested a woman and her husband for allegedly stealing jewellery from their parent’s house. The accused Karamana native Kiran Raj (26) and wife Aiswarya (22) were arrested after a complaint was lodged at the Ettumanoor police station.
Aiswarya stole the jewellery when she arrived at her ancestral house in Peroor for Onam vacation. From there, Aiswarya went to her husband’s house in Thiruvananthapuram with the jewellery. The incident happened when her mother left for work in Palakkad.
After returning from Palakkad, Aiswarya’s mother found that 10 sovereigns of gold which was bought for her daughter’s wedding was stolen from the house and immediately lodged a complaint at Ettumanoor station.
When quizzed, Aiswarya tried to mislead the police alleging her father might have stolen the gold. However, police began to suspect Aiswarya and caught her red handed following a scientific examination. Later police seized the stolen jewellery from her husband’s house.
Police found that Aiswarya had replaced five sovereigns of jewellery with fake gold after selling them. The accused Aiswarya and her husband were produced in court.
