CM Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly meeting that the murder of BDS student Manasa in Nellikuzhi, Kothamangalam was shocking.

Thiruvananthapuram: CM Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly meeting that the murder of BDS student Manasa in Nellikuzhi of Kothamangalam was shocking. He also added that harassing women after they reject love proposals will be dealt with strict measures.

Manasa was murdered on July 30. Kannur native Rakhil shot her with a gun for rejecting his love proposal and later committed suicide by shooting himself.

The CM said that the investigation into the case will be intensified and that the illegal smuggling of guns into the state will also be stopped.

The CM informed that the dowry system prevalent in the state will be stopped and that the instructions put forward by the governor are acceptable.

The chief minister also pointed out that there must be resistance against the dowry system and that public representatives must not attend such weddings. He also added that dowry weddings must be brought to an end at once.
